Happy Mother’s Day, Mom

I know my mom reads my blog every once in a while. I hope she reads it today. Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!
I sent you flowers – I hope you get them before Mother’s Day and that you like them!

There is a great movie with Brigette Fonda that I watched years ago in which she is a little wildcat heathen taken off the streets and brainwashed into being a secret agent by some secret government agency. The movie is similar to the TV series called Nikita. Anyway, she is a wildcat and fights them all the way, refusing to cooperate. Then her trainer gives her the smackdown and says she either works with them or they’ll kill her. So she sees the light and starts working on becoming civilized. The person training her in ettiquette is played by Anne Bancroft, which is perfect casting. One of the secrets taught is to enter a room with a smile on your face. That is something I’ve always tried to do. The other secret is that when the devil has you cornered and you need to keep your cool, have a soothing saying that you can say to yourself to keep your head straight and give yourself courage to get through it. The saying she was given is great and I’ve adopted it as my own:
“I never did mind the little things.”
